The Inbox Messages icon is displaying -1 (negative one).
Here is a screen capture:

enter image description here

I am referring to the white "-1" appearing in the red circle.
I have never seen this before.
When I logged in, there were two messages and one of them was about new options for chatroom owners. When I clicked on that message, it took me to one of the "meta" sites. I don't remember which one but it definitely was not this one.
I don't remember if, when I logged in, the number of unread messages was 1 (one) or 2. I think it was 1.
To be honest, it's slightly annoying. Is there some way to get rid of it? I don't mean permanently get rid of the display of the number of unread messages, but rather something like adjusting the number of unread messages to be 0 (zero).

  • I didn't take this as a bug report but as a support request for how to deal with the negative number. If it's really a duplicate, I should move my answer to the dupe target. Commented Nov 11 at 12:12
  • @VLAZ the duplicated question has a comment, by security_paranoid, that mentions Mark all as read. So I would say that is tantamount to your answer. Commented Nov 11 at 13:00
