Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, has said that Trump was an undercover FBI informant investigating Epstein (Yahoo News):

Mr Johnson added: “When he first heard the rumour, he kicked him out of Mar-a-Lago. He was an FBI informant to try to take this stuff down.”

Is there any evidence of this? Have the FBI commented?

Considering the FBI (typically, and understandably) won't publicly confirm or deny whether people are informants, what would you accept as evidence enough to confirm/deny the accusation? Commented Sep 8 at 13:44

No, according to a Daily Beast article, a spokesperson for House Speaker Mike Johnson clarified (Daily Beast):

When asked to confirm the claim that Trump was an “FBI informant,” a spokesperson for Johnson sent the Daily Beast the following statement: “The Speaker is reiterating what the victims’ attorney said, which is that Donald Trump—who kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago—was the only one more than a decade ago willing to help prosecutors expose Epstein for being a disgusting child predator.”

This statement shifts away from describing Trump as an “FBI informant,” defined as someone who supplies "information to the FBI on a confidential basis" (see FBI.gov), to someone who was “willing to help prosecutors”.

Prosecutors, unlike the FBI, are legal representatives, such as a “lawyer who initiates prosecution of criminal offenses” or, at the federal level, a “U.S. Attorney” who may serve as the prosecutor for federal crimes (see Cornell University).

Not sure how relevant this is, but wasn't he kicked out of Mar-a-Lago in 2007, but wasn't arrested for any crimes until 2019, or almost 12 years later? That is an awfully long time for the FBI to be sitting on that kind of information. Commented Sep 7 at 15:26

@JoeW Epstein was kicked out of Mar-a-Lago in 2005 or so. Epstein was charged, convicted, and sentenced for being a sex offender in 2008. Commented Sep 7 at 16:39

It's worth noting that Mr Trump allegedly kicked him out of Mar-a-Lago not for any of his sexual/predatory activities but because he poached employees. I don't think there is any evidence that he was actually in any way "willing to help prosecutors expose Epstein for being a disgusting child predator" Commented Sep 8 at 11:22

@JoeW Epstein was arrested twice. Once in 2008 for prostitution (he pled guilty and served 13 months in jail) and again in 2019 for child sex trafficking (he died in jail while awaiting trial). Commented Sep 8 at 13:56

@jcaron "Mr Trump allegedly kicked him out of Mar-a-Lago not for any of his sexual/predatory activities but because he poached employees." To be clear, that's what Trump has said publicly, it wasn't alleged by a third-party. I also thought there was evidence that Epstein remained an active member after this supposed event but I'm not sure about that. Commented Sep 8 at 16:16
