I would like to refinish my basement with new walls. We had a interior French drain installed around the perimeter of the house and then had the basement floor epoxied/polaspartic. This was done months ago and only recently started to looking into building walls but the perimeter of the basement is not level, has some bumps and low spots but is all covered with polyaspartic. I cannot drill or tapcon into the floor as that voids the warranty. How can I level and secure the bottom plate to the floor?

If you have French drains you have humidity near the walls. Your new walls need to be inside a moisture barrier and the French drains outside it. Needs planning.jay613– jay6132025-11-21 18:17:09 +00:00Commented 13 hours ago

Use a construction adhesive to bond the bottom plate to the floor. Apply the adhesive thick. It then will fill any voids between the bottom plate and the floor. ( I don't know how the company would know that you drilled if the attachment was in the wall...but that's just me.)
For outer walls against the foundation cut 2x4 blocking between the studs near the bottom of the wall and anchor through the blocking to the wall.

I like these ideas. I would consider using corrosion resistant metal strapping between the bottom plate and the wall as well.isherwood– isherwood2025-11-21 20:12:39 +00:00Commented 12 hours ago
