I’m looking for a movie from around the 1970s, set in an old-fashioned town (I remember it having a western vibe). It was about a family arriving in a town where everyone seemed to be possessed or zombies.

At the end, when the family tried to escape, they were surrounded by all the townspeople, even those who seemed to be their friends, yelling something like: ‘Die, die! Hell awaits for you.’

There was not a happy end, as I can remember.

This was my first horror film. As a little kid, I peed my pants. I was not allowed to watch it, but that night I was with the babysitter.

    The 1971 film 'Brotherhood of Satan' has a mobbing scene similar to your description, but this occurs near the beginning when the family first arrives in town. This movie has no happy ending. The film is set in the southern California desert. Commented Nov 16 at 22:03
