When a link is included in a spoiler, clicking it does nothing. You can try it out below:

Right-clicking the link and choosing something like 'Open link in new tab' works, but is more cumbersome.

It did work in the past, here is a Wayback Machine copy from March this year from a Puzzling.SE question where the accepted answer includes an uploaded image, which is a link in itself.

    Middle-clicking also works and opens in a new tab. But left clicking doesn't. Commented Nov 13 at 15:57

    @VLAZ Don't have scroll wheel but equivalent cmd+click shortcut in macos doesn't work for me. Commented Nov 13 at 16:24
  • @CaveJohnson yes, seems there is some event listener specifically for clicks which is blocking any left click interaction. Which would also cover Ctrl+Left Click, Shift + Left Click and anything else (if any). Commented Nov 13 at 16:30
