Previously, when compiling on DataStage, a small window would appear throughout the compilation and provide failure reasons, etc... Pretty standard stuff. Recently I've noticed that window doesn't appear and when compiling, I'm left waiting blindly to wonder if it's completed and upon a failure, I have no clue why.

Anyone experience this issue before and know how to solve it? It smells like a niche error with how the windows appear, but this issue persists across PC restarts, even.

I've tried solutions from similar (but not quite exactly my issue) posts here, such as Alt + Spacebar or Shift + Windows + Left/Right Arrow to manipulate the windows, but to no avail.

  • Hi. That Alt + Spacebar trick does not end after hitting Alt + Spacebar. Just to make sure you did not miss that. Besides that, it happens now and then, that the "compiling" window swaps to the background, hidden behind other windows. If that's the case, it reappears when tabbing out of and back into the application. Commented Mar 23 at 19:44

In my german installation, after hitting compile, press Alt+Space directly followed by (as Justus mentioned, it can happend that when the compile is finished, that the complied window will go to the background) v (in german for Verschieben (Move), so this my be a different key in a installation for a different country, you can check e.g. in the notepad which key to use) followed by one of the directional arrows on the keyboard, then wait for the compile to be finished, you will then (and not before) be able to move your compile window with your mouse (until you left click).
