I casually came across the following quote attributed to Booker T. Washington:

A lie doesn't become truth, wrong doesn't become right, and evil doesn't become good, just because it's accepted by a majority.

Google is replete with these attributions. Multiple books (such as this one) use it as well.

I haven't been able to find any credible source that supports this attribution. What evidence do we have for attributing this quote to Booker T. Washington?

If (as I suspect) there is no good evidence, what is the earliest source that makes this false attribution?

The original source is a 2014 statement by Rick Warren about gay marriage:

"A lie doesn't become a truth and wrong doesn't become right and evil doesn't become good just because it's popular. Truth is truth."

It seems that the attribution was drifting by 2018, when a book attributed a similar sentence with the word "majority" to Robert E. Lynch. Another book mentions it as an unsourced quote seen on Facebook.

Google Books seems to indicate that further reattribution to Booker T. happened around 2020. I think a thorough investigation of Facebook memes would be necessary to see who posted the reattributed version first.
