I've recently updated to SSMS 21.4.12, where I was previously running the 2019 version. In the old version, I was able by default to save with headers when exporting to file with right click save as, while still being able to copy a single cell without headers.

Is there any way to replicate this behavior on the new version?

This gets annoying when I need to alternate between generating reporting and manipulating data. I have to settle on turning headers off, and then explicitly copying headers and pasting into excel whenever I want to generate a report.

Below is an image of the only setting I can find that seems to toggle this in my current version (Include column headers when copying or saving results). This seems to apply to both instead of one or the other.

Can you please add a screenshot or a link to the documentation on this setting you're referring to? Commented Oct 7 at 11:46
  • Yes, I've just added an image of settings on the current version. I should've used different language, as in the old version this was default behavior instead of a setting I had to toggle. Commented Oct 7 at 19:04
