I thought that ConEmu would allow me to have multiple tabs with only one window open. I navigate to Settings... > General > Appearance and enable both the Single instance mode option and the Multiple consoles in one ConEmu window option.

I need to open a particular executable file in a new tab. I navigate to the New console dialog..., click the ... button next to Startup command or {Task} name; -new_console switches:, choose the desired file, and then hit Start.

Then the new tab is opened, but I also get two windows: if I click the ConEmu icon in the taskbar, I see two windows, each having two tabs open. The first window has the first tab focused, the second window has the second tab focused. But why does the program open a new window for each tab? All I want is to open all tabs in a single window, without creating a new window for a newly opened tab. This is what all programs with the tabbed interface (browsers, document viewers, etc.) normally do.

Question: is it possible to prevent ConEmu from creating a new window when I open a new tab? If yes, how?
