i have a power bi report that sits on the web version. I had to add two additional columns to the dataset. it links to a View in a SQL DB, so i updated that and its all correct on that end, refreshed my semantic model (no errors) but my two new columns are not showing online.

A few issues and pitfalls...

I downloaded the report to my desktop version, had a prompt to refresh, which i did and the columns were there, but i cant re-upload this back to the web because it will kick out the Row Level Security we have on the current live version.

i guess in summary i have two issues.

  1. cant see new columns in the live report despite them being there in the source data.
  2. i cant download to desktop as it cannot be re-uploaded to overwrite what is there with existing RLS structure.

if anyone knows a way around either of these i will be grateful!

  • Can you paste the power query code for the table connection from Advanced editor. Please mask any confidential part of the code like sql server name, etc. Commented Jun 6 at 5:51
