I am trying to run simple JPA application using Spring Boot. It keeps throwing same error whenever I run application.

I keep getting this error:

org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'dataSourceScriptDatabaseInitializer' defined in class path resource [org/springframework/boot/autoconfigure/sql/init/DataSourceInitializationConfiguration.class]: Failed to execute SQL script statement #1 of file [C:\Users\test.test.000\Downloads\JAP_leaning\JAP_leaning\target\classes\data.sql]: insert into person (name,location,birth_date) values('Tom', 'USA',null)

If you read the stacktrace carefully, you'll find the following error messages:

Failed to execute SQL script statement #1 of file [C:\Users\test.test.000\Downloads\JAP_leaning\JAP_leaning\target\classes\data.sql]: insert into person (name,location,birth_date) values('Tom', 'USA',null)

and

NULL not allowed for column "ID"; SQL statement: insert into person (name,location,birth_date) values('Tom', 'USA',null)

You haven't posted sufficient detail to be sure. But I assume you have a column ID in the table person that is defined as

ID BIGINT PRIMARY KEY

If you want ID to be automatically filled and incremented, you need to change this to something like

ID BIGINT GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY PRIMARY KEY
