Great fireside chat with Sebastien Benedict at Tourism Industry Association of Canada's #TourismCongress2025. Together we are bolstering tourism to build the strongest economy in the G7. We talked about how #Budget2025 bolsters tourism through better infrastructure to lower travel costs, the renewal of the Canada Strong Pass, a stronger workforce through the Workforce Innovation Fund and Youth Employment Skills Strategy and new support for arts, culture and indigenous tourism. Thank you TIAC for the warm welcome.

  • That is a wrap on Day 1, and the feedback is unanimous: #TourismCongress 2025 is off to a monumental start! From the moving words of keynote speaker Mark Brand to the rousing speech of TIAC President & CEO Sébastien Benedict, whose message of an industry based on unity and shared purpose resonated deeply with everyone in the room, Congress's opener has set a high bar for the rest of the conference. Today highlighted the strength of our sector when we come together to advocate, to collaborate, and to chart a bold path forward. It also saw the acknowledgment of a brighter tomorrow for #CanadianTourism, as the winners of the Future Leaders Contest were presented during the day's luncheon, sponsored by Air Canada. On to Day 2.

  • A full day of meaningful engagement in Ottawa 🇨🇦 Today, we made a clear and united case: tourism builds Canada. Tourism isn’t just a sector—it’s a nation-builder. It creates jobs in every region of the country. It facilitates trade and strengthens Canada’s global connections. And it helps government achieve its goals for economic growth and shared prosperity. Proud of the work TIAC members are doing to champion this message and ensure tourism remains a key driver of Canada’s future. #TIAC #HillDay #TourismCan #Advocacy #EconomicGrowth

  • Tourism builds Canada—connecting 5,000 communities, creating almost 2 million jobs that cannot be outsourced, and generating export revenue that stays in the country. When international visitors arrive, they generate $31 billion in export revenue instantly, with no tariffs, no supply chains, and no delays. That revenue flows directly to 265,000 businesses from coast to coast to coast. #CANADA #Tourism #TourismCan

This summer, Canada’s tourism sector did more business than ever before — by welcoming the world and being our own best customer.    More good news: we just renewed the Canada Strong Pass for the holidays and summer 2026 — so it’s more affordable to explore our incredible country.
