Toilets are essential for health, dignity, equality, and climate resilience. Yet 3.4 billion people still live without access to one that is safe and hygienic. Water, sanitation and hygiene are essential to address the health needs of women and girls. Inadequate #WASH facilities, particularly in health centres, put women’s health at risk, especially during pregnancy and childbirth, and expose them to infections and diseases. Earlier this year, as part of the Canadian Partnership for Women and Children's Health (CanWaCH) Academy Learning Series, Acted Canada had the privilege of hosting a session on Nexus Programming, organized by the Multisectoral Nexus Working Group (administered by Acted Canada). JUST IN: World Health Organization's Global TB Report reaffirms #tuberculosis as the world's leading infectious killer, with 1.23 million deaths in 2024 alone❗️ Here's what you need to know: ✅ timely TB treatment has saved approx. 83 MILLION lives since 2000. ❌ global funding cuts in 2025 pose a SERIOUS threat. Modelling studies warn that long-term cuts could result in up to 2 MILLION additional deaths and 10 MILLION people falling ill with TB between 2025 and 2035. ✅progress continued in TB diagnosis, prevention, and treatment between 2023-2024, reflecting the impact of sustained efforts and innovation. ❌ we remain far from global targets to #endTB, especially concerning as countries dial back commitments to global health. 👉 the 8th replenishment of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is happening RIGHT NOW.
