Our Story

For over 35 years, KSCS has been dedicated to supporting and building healthy lifestyles for Kahnawa’kehró:non. We work to enhance overall wellbeing rooted in cultural values and holistic services. Each day, KSCS works towards its mission by offering a wide support network grounded in a client-centered approach that emphasizes respect for individuals and the unique needs they bring forward.  

We provide a broad range of services including mental health support, addictions support, traditional healing, elder and home care, youth and family programming and more. Our team meets community members where they’re at to work with them in their wellness journey.  

KSCS is made up of professionals and community members with experience in social work, psychology, homecare, environmental health, counselling, traditional knowledge and much more. With compassion, cultural awareness and commitment, we work together to uplift our people. 

We believe that by working together, we can help foster a stronger, healthier, and more resilient future for all Kahnawa’kehró:non.

 

Organizational Direction

Derek Montour began his career at KSCS in 2001 as a dedicated construction worker. His passion and commitment led him to a leadership role in Prevention and Support Services, and on April 1st, 2012, he became the Executive Director of KSCS. He remains devoted to promoting and supporting a healthy family unit in Kahnawà:ke.

Together, they provide direction to uphold the mission, vision, and strategic framework, working toward a future where all Kahnawa’kehró:non can experience holistic wellbeing and collective prosperity.

Our Annual Reports offer detailed overviews of each department's yearly activities highlighting accomplishments, challenges, future goals, and the integration of Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten. These reports, dating back to the early 2000s, serve as a valuable record of KSCS’s progress over time.
