Android things create wifiWi-Fi access point to configure device

I need to send wifiWi-Fi credentials to my android thingsAndroid Things headless device vaivia a mobile app. As it is right now, the device advertises on bluetoothBluetooth, the mobile app connects to device and sends wifiWi-Fi credentials to it. The device then stops advertising vai bluetoothvia Bluetooth and connects directly to the users wifiWi-Fi network using the credentials acquired vai bluetoothvia Bluetooth.

Is it possible to set up the device to advertise vai wifivia Wi-Fi instead of bluetoothBluetooth? If so how could this be done? I cantcan't find any information or tutorials on the subject probably because android things is still relatively new.
