November 13, 2025 (Vancouver) - The home of the 2025 Calder Cup champion Abbotsford Canucks is getting a brand-new name.  
 
Formerly the Abbotsford Centre, the venue is being renamed Rogers Forum as part of a new agreement between the City of Abbotsford, Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CSE) and Rogers Communications.  
 
The renaming represents a significant expansion of the long-standing partnership between Rogers and CSE, reinforcing a shared commitment to delivering world-class entertainment experiences to fans in British Columbia. Through the deal, Rogers will also become the Official Telecommunications Partner of the Abbotsford Canucks.  
 
“We’re excited to expand our partnership with Canucks Sports & Entertainment and bring Rogers Forum to life as a hub for players, fans and families in the Fraser Valley,” said Terrie Tweddle, Chief Brand and Communications Officer, Rogers. “This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to connecting fans in BC to the best experiences - on the ice, on the stage, and in the community.”  
 
Since opening in 2009, Rogers Forum has become the Fraser Valley’s premier sports and entertainment venue. It serves as home to the Abbotsford Canucks, youth and adult recreational hockey leagues, and has hosted major concerts and special events including Cirque du Soleil, Eric Church, Carrie Underwood, Jerry Seinfeld and Sesame Street.  
 
“Since 2021, our partnership with Canucks Sports and Entertainment has fostered strong community connections and economic benefits for Abbotsford,” said Ross Siemens, Mayor, City of Abbotsford. “We are proud to have Rogers joining the Abbotsford team as naming partner, and excited to continue attending shows and cheering on the Abbotsford Canucks at Rogers Forum.”  
 
The naming of Rogers Forum builds on the more than decade-long partnership between Rogers and the Vancouver Canucks, which also includes media and broadcast rights with Sportsnet, and initiatives that support youth hockey in the community through various campaigns with Canucks for Kids Fund.

The Abbotsford Canucks took on the San Jose Barracuda in their final home game of November before hitting the road once again.

Still searching for their first home win, Aku Koskenvuo made his AHL debut in net for the Canucks, facing off against Gabriel Carriere at the other end. Phip Waugh also made his Abbotsford debut, lining up alongside Joe Arntsen on the blue line.

The Barracuda had some early looks and opened the scoring just seven minutes in, when Lucas Carlsson found the top right corner to make it 1–0. The Canucks faced some adversity late in the frame after taking a penalty, but Koskenvuo stood tall with several key saves to keep it close. Another call with just six seconds left in the period meant Abbotsford would start the second shorthanded.

Unfortunately, the penalty proved costly as Quentin Musty doubled San Jose’s lead just a minute into the second. The tide began to turn midway through the period when Anri Ravinskis rang one off the post on Abbotsford’s first power play of the night. Building off that momentum, Joe Arntsen made sure the next chance counted, wiring a shot from the left circle past Carriere to get the Canucks on the board. Moments later, after Ben Berard’s shot was stopped, Ty Mueller crashed the net and buried the rebound to tie the game 2–2. The Barracuda regained their lead late in the frame when Colin White found the back of the net, sending Abbotsford into the final period down 3–2.

The Canucks came out hard in the third, determined to tie things up. Tempers flared when Joseph LaBate and Shane Bowers dropped the gloves in front of the Abbotsford net, hoping to spark their teams. With time winding down, the Canucks went on a late power play and pulled Koskenvuo to create a 6-on-4 advantage. With just over a minute remaining, Sawyer Mynio fired a shot from the blue line that LaBate managed to tip home, tying the game 3–3 and sending it to overtime.

Neither team could seal it in the extra frame, so it all came down to the shootout.

Ben Berard’s goal stood as the game-winner, snapping Abbotsford’s losing streak and lifting the Canucks to a thrilling 4–3 victory over the Barracuda. The team now hits the road to close out November before returning home for the Christmas season.

The Abbotsford Canucks returned home for a quick back-to-back series against the San Jose Barracuda.

Rolling with nearly identical lines from Saturday’s contest, the lone change came on the blue line, as Jake Murray made his Abbotsford debut alongside Joe Arntsen. Ty Young got the start in net for the Canucks.

Abbotsford came out firing, dominating the shot clock and generating several quality chances but couldn’t find the bounce to open the scoring. Danila Klimovich had one of the best looks of the frame with a breakaway opportunity, but Jakub Škarek turned him aside. The Barracuda struck first when Patrick Giles found the back of the net from the slot to make it 1-0. Ten minutes later, Zack Ostapchuk cleaned up a rebound and slipped it through the legs of Young, sending the Canucks into the intermission down 2-0.

The middle frame didn’t tilt Abbotsford’s way. An unfortunate clearing attempt slipped into the net — credited to Lucas Carlsson — giving San Jose a 3-0 lead. Despite the Canucks continuing to press, the Barracuda capitalized again as Giles buried his second of the night, followed by Igor Chernyshov picking the top corner to make it 5-0 heading into the third.

The Barracuda kept rolling in the final frame, with Chernyshov netting two more to complete his hat trick and seal a 7-0 win.

The Canucks will look to regroup and bounce back in tomorrow night’s rematch.

The Abbotsford Canucks fell 7-0 to the San Jose Barracuda

The Abbotsford Canucks looked to bounce back when they landed in San Jose to take on the Barracuda for night one of their back-to-back.

Nikita Tolopilo drew back into the crease after missing a few games with an injury, taking on Jakub Skarek at the other end of the ice. Dino Kambeitz also made his return to the lineup, slotting in alongside Chase Wouters and Nick Poisson, while Victor Mancini stepped in next to Jimmy Schuldt to anchor the first pairing on the blue line.

Both teams opened the game with pace and urgency, trading chances and shutting plays down in equal measure. But the story of the first period quickly became the penalty box. A costly roughing call on Joseph LaBate handed San Jose their first power play, and the Barracuda capitalized roughly eight minutes in. Moments later, Vilmer Alriksson was sent to the box, and San Jose struck again—this time courtesy of Jimmy Huntington.

Abbotsford managed to kill off a third consecutive penalty but struggled to generate any sustained offense because of it. A brief scrum sent a few more players to the sin bin, but the Barracuda carried their 2–0 lead into the intermission.

The Canucks came out firing in the second. Just 90 seconds in, Ben Berard found space over Škarek’s shoulder during a 4-on-3 advantage, cutting the deficit in half. With San Jose back in penalty trouble shortly after, Ty Mueller buried a slick backhand to tie the game at two.

Momentum stayed with Abbotsford. Only two minutes later, Sawyer Mynio intercepted a Barracuda pass and sprung Chase Wouters on a clean breakaway. The captain made no mistake, flipping the script and giving the Canucks a 3–2 lead. Mynio racked up three points in the period, and Berard dropped the gloves with Oliver Wahlstrom to complete a Gordie Howe hat trick in just 20 minutes of hockey.

San Jose responded midway through the frame when Pavol Regenda slipped in a back-door finish to knot things up 3–3. Abbotsford continued applying pressure, disrupting plays and peppering shots on net, but with just over three minutes to play, Tolopilo made a big stop on Filip Bystedt only to have Igor Chernyshov bury the rebound, restoring the Barracuda lead.

With just over two minutes left, Abbotsford pulled the goalie in search of the equalizer, but Regenda sealed the game with an empty-netter with 30 seconds gone in the 6-on-5 push. The Canucks fell 5–3 to San Jose in a penalty-heavy matchup.

The teams will be back at it tomorrow night as Abbotsford wraps up their four-game road trip.

The Abbotsford Canucks had a quick turnaround, travelling some miles east to take on the Coachella Valley Firebirds. The last time these two teams met was in Round 2 of the Calder Cup Playoffs, where Abbotsford advanced.

Anri Ravinskis and Josh Bloom drew into the lineup up front, while Phip Waugh slotted back in next to Joe Arntsen on the blue line. Aku Koskenvuo got the start between the pipes, facing Victor Östman for the Firebirds.

The first period was eventful, with Abbotsford looking to make a splash early. Just under four minutes in, Ben Berard and Jonathan Lekkerimäki broke out on an odd-man rush, where a cross-ice feed from Berard allowed Lekkerimäki to rip home his first of the season, putting Abbotsford ahead. Koskenvuo followed up with a series of big saves to keep them in front. Unfortunately, a Canucks penalty proved costly when Jacob Melanson buried the tying goal on the power play. With time winding down, Jagger Firkus snuck one through to give Coachella a 2–1 lead heading into the second. Despite the score, Abbotsford put forth a strong opening frame and aimed to build on that momentum.

The Canucks opened the second period on the penalty kill, making it tough to generate early chances. Around the halfway mark, Tyson Jugnauth extended the Firebirds’ lead to 3–1. Koskenvuo continued to come up with impressive stops, but Melanson struck again to make it 4–1.

The teams battled to the very end, and with under a minute remaining, a late Abbotsford power play—and a 6-on-4 advantage—allowed Berard to cash in to make it 4–2. But with the net still empty, Melanson completed the hat trick with an empty-netter, sealing Coachella Valley’s 5–2 win.

Abbotsford drops this one 5–2, but will continue their road trip next weekend as they take on the San Jose Barracuda.

Abbotsford falls 5-2 in Coachella

The Abbotsford Canucks are coming off their first home-ice win of the season on Wednesday and kicked off an 11-day, four-game California road trip with a matchup against the San Diego Gulls.

Jonathan Lekkerimäki made his season debut with Abbotsford, slotting onto the top line alongside Nils Åman and Vilmer Alriksson. Jujhar Khaira also returned to the lineup, centering Joseph LaBate and Ben Berard. Ty Young got the start in net, facing Ville Husso at the opposite end.

Abbotsford opened the game with a few early chances, but Husso turned away every shot and rebound. The Canucks earned the first power play of the night, but a loose puck at the blue line sprung a San Diego breakaway, and Justin Bailey buried a shorthanded marker to make it 1–0 just five minutes in. Despite Abbotsford continuing to push the pace and pile on shots, the Gulls extended their lead when Judd Caufield ripped a shot top-corner from the right circle. A late tally rounded out the period, giving San Diego a 3–0 lead after 20 minutes.

The Canucks started the second period killing off a penalty and managed to survive it, but moments later Ryan Carpenter tipped home a loose puck in front to make it 4–0. Emotions rose shortly after as Chase Wouters dropped the gloves with Noah Warren in an effort to spark his team. Neither side found the net again in the middle frame, and Abbotsford headed into the third down by four.

The Canucks continued generating looks in the final period, but couldn’t find a finish. The Gulls, however, added to their total as Sam Colangelo made it 5–0, followed by a power-play goal from Sasha Pastujov that pushed the lead to six. Justin Bailey capped off the night with his second of the game, closing out a tough one for Abbotsford.

The Abbotsford Canucks fell 7–0 to the San Diego Gulls to open their road trip. They now head to Coachella Valley to take on the Firebirds tomorrow at 5 PM.
